Varde
Varde is a lovely old town with medieval roots. Like many other
such towns, Varde has been struck by major fires over the centuries
but a lot of fine old buildings have survived unscathed, including
whole streets of well preserved old houses that are well worth a
visit. We warmly recommend a wander through the town centre and a
tasty lunch in one of the many cafés and restaurants.
To get a true sense of the old Varde, visit Varde Mini Town in
Arnbjergparken, a 1:10 scale replica of the town as it was in the
early 19th century. This beautifully crafted miniature town is open
on Wednesdays from 9am to 12 noon. You can also visit the
production workshop at Vestervold 18C.
Varde also has welcoming pedestrian streets, an artillery
museum, an art gallery and a large playground.
